A Chicago-born Baby Boomer, my mixed media art has been influenced by the artists of the 1960s and 1970s, pop art, abstract, collage. Although, I have to admit the Impressionists are truly my favorite, particularly Claude Monet. I get lost in his work at any museum I visit. I love his color palette and soft brush strokes.
My inspiration and love of nature often takes me to the woods near my home in Illinois, where I find my solitude. Capturing images with my camera often inspires me to create landscapes, trees, and flowers.
Art is in my DNA, I come from an artistic family, so I have always loved art, trying all different mediums. My fine art education began in high school as an art major student. There I learned the basics and enjoyed creating art in many different mediums. I carried my love of the arts into adulthood as a crafter during the 1980s-1990s until returning to my career in marketing.
It’s a pleasure now to go back to my roots and finally devote time to finding my own unique style and to develop my art business. I am grateful to be able to share my time with others who enjoy art; creators and art lovers alike.
I most often express myself through mixed media, incorporating watercolors, acrylic mediums, inks, metals, and papers in my work.
My spiritual side, often comes out when I mindfully draw mandalas, focusing on the circular patterns to bring me a sense of calm when the world is moving a little too fast. My unique Mosaizzic style of art has that same affect on me, tracing the intricate patterns of lines and painting the beautiful metallic colors gives me inner peace.
My art style and techniques constantly evolve, as I often attend artist-led workshops, where I discover new paths into my own inner creativity. Through mixed media practice I have learned many new techniques. I often push the boundaries and break the traditional rules, but it’s exciting to find new results and to expand my artistic practice while expressing my inner creative soul.
